The West Indies were the host country for the 2007 Cricket World Cup competition that took place from March 13 to April 28 back in 2007. Sixteen teams qualified for the World Cup, which is the premier international championship of men’s One-Day International (ODI) cricket. In the 2003 tournament, which was held in South Africa, Australia defeated India to keep the world championship. Australia has won the most World Cups. In addition to its 2003 crown, Australia won in 1999 and 1987. West Indies has two wins, in 1975 and 1979. Other champions include India, 1983, Pakistan, 1992, and Sir Lanka, 1996. England has hosted the World Cup four times – 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999. Other host countries include: India/Pakistan, 1987; Australia/New Zealand, 1992; and India/Pakistan/Sri Lanka, 1996.
